Job summary

The Department of Social Services (DSS) in New York City seeks an Administrative Job Opportunity Specialist NM II to direct the FIA Job Center operations, oversee multiple centers, and drive welfare reform initiatives. You will supervise staff, ensure compliance with all mandates, and coordinate with city/state agencies to deliver timely public assistance and employment services.

This role requires leadership, policy adherence, and strong partnership-building with community organizations to help

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus four years of satisfactory full-time experience performing work related to employment services or economic support; at least 18 months in supervisory/managerial capacity.
• High school diploma or equivalent plus eight years of full-time experience as described above; at least 18 months supervisory/managerial capacity.

Responsibilities

• Direct on-site management, planning and monitoring of all activities delivering public assistance to eligible persons/families; ensure expenditures align with Federal/State laws and Agency policies.
• Oversee FIA Job Centers/Model Offices including Center components to minimize wait times and aid self-sufficiency.
• Lead implementation of Welfare Reform and ensure able-bodied recipients participate in work-related activities; liaise with Back-To-Work vendors to aid employment.
• Direct Recertification activities in a timely manner per City/State/Federal mandates; maintain positive relationships with community organizations and elected officials.
• Supervise staff development, training programs and ensure staff meet agency goals; evaluate training effectiveness.
• Develop productivity enhancement protocols for eligibility screening, work participation, data collection and case coordination; prepare management reports with corrective actions.
• Direct and monitor Fair Hearing processes; improve Win rate and ensure compliance with decisions; coordinate with supervisors to ensure timely service delivery.
• Manage Center performance goals; prepare operating and performance reports; implement corrective actions when needed.
• Coordinate Job Stat presentations; conduct Center Stat meetings to improve overall performance.
