Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking a Cemetery Maintenance Associate to perform openings and closings for interments, install memorials, and respond to service orders. You will operate heavy equipment, maintain grounds, and ensure safety across all tasks, including grave preparation and maintenance.

Responsibilities include assembling foundations, memorials, and markers, and completing required training.

Qualifications

• High School degree or equivalent.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools and equipment such as shovel, rake and chain saw.
• Ability to operate mechanical equipment including dump trucks and backhoes.
• Ability to measure with tape measures and rulers.
• Effective communication with families, associates and contractors.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
• Adherence to safety rules and universal precautions.

Responsibilities

• Performs openings and closings for interments and related tasks.
• Sets, installs, and assembles foundations, memorials and markers.
• Installs outer burial containers and handles related work orders.
• Responds to service requests for grave and marker maintenance.
• Performs interment verification procedures.
• Conducts 25-foot radius prep for burials and keeps area clean.
• Fills graves, tamping and seeding or sodding as needed.
• Follows safety policies and maintains company assets.
• Completes Dignity University courses and other training as assigned.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
