Job summary

Service Corporation International is seeking a Cemetery Maintenance Associate in North Charleston, SC. The role involves performing openings/closings for burials, installing memorials and markers, and maintaining gravesites in outdoor conditions.

You will respond to service requests, handle equipment, and ensure safety standards are met while preserving the dignity of memorial grounds.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of six (6) months experience operating standard equipment.
• Valid license(s) and acceptable driving record to operate equipment/vehicles.
• Ability to operate hand-held tools such as shovel, pick, rake, sledge hammer, and lawn maintenance gear.
• Ability to operate larger mechanical equipment like dump trucks, tractors, and backhoes.
• Ability to measure with tape measures and yardsticks.
• Strong communication with colleagues, contractors and client families.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Performs openings and closings for interments and related work.
• Sets, installs, and assembles foundations, memorials, and markers.
• Installs outer burial containers and maintains gravesites.
• Responds to service/work orders from client families.
