Job summary

Bowhead seeks a Computational Electromagnetics Research Scientist and Programmer to join the HPCMP Integrated Technical Services -Restricted (HITS-R) contract in San Diego, CA. The role covers theory, algorithm design, and production-quality software development for critical DoD capabilities.

The candidate should have a PhD or MS in a STEM field with 3+ years in CEM, strong C++, Matlab, Python, and Fortran skills, plus solid EM theory. Security clearance is required for this location.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS in a STEM field with focus on CEM, physics or EE.
• ≥3 years of relevant experience in Computational Electromagnetics or related area.
• Proficiency in C++, Matlab, Python, Fortran or similar languages.
• Strong foundation in electromagnetic theory; expertise in high-frequency asymptotic methods or full-wave methods and HPC is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop novel CEM algorithms for DoW modeling and simulation.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in CEM to keep solutions state-of-the-art.
• Participate in the full lifecycle of production-quality CEM software.
• Support transitioning new algorithms into robust codebases.
• Develop and execute V&V strategies for CEM codes to ensure accuracy.
• Collaborate in small agile teams and contribute as a researcher.
• Interface with stakeholders to gather requirements and understand needs.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external audiences.
