Job summary

New York Air Brake is seeking a Cell Lead at the Riverside, Missouri site to oversee basic disassembly, wash, rebuild, and test of freight and locomotive valves and brake components. The role requires 1–2 years of related experience or a high school diploma, with emphasis on safety, quality, and teamwork in a shop environment.

As an entry-level lead, you will supervise training, maintain 5S standards, and coordinate daily goals while ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1–2 years related experience.
  • Ability to operate power and manual tools and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, wash, rebuild, and test freight and locomotive valves and brake pistons.
  • Operate power and manual tools, semi-automatic equipment, lapping, washes.
  • Instruct cell staff on proper and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Oversee training of new cell employees.
  • Maintain a 5S environment in the cell and address safety issues.
  • Lead standup meetings and assign daily goals to shift personnel.
  • Support Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  • Adhere to regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Follow Integrated Management System policies and instructions.
  • Support KPIs as defined in the goal tree.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Essential Functions

  1. Understand all facets of work in the cell (basic disassembly, wash, rebuild, and testing of freight and locomotive valves, brake pistons and test devices.
  2. Proper use of power and manual tools, operations of semi-automatic equipment, lapping, washes.
  3. Instruct cell employees on proper and safe use of all tools and equipment.
  4. Must oversee training for all new cell employees.
  5. Maintain a 5S environment in the cell at all times and immediately address any and all safety issues.
  6. Conduct standup meetings, issue instructions for daily goals and shift personnel as needed to achieve those goals.
  7. Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  8. Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  9. Must understand, support, and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures, and instructions.
  10. Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
