Job summary

New York Air Brake LLC in Riverside, Missouri is seeking a skilled assembler for Freight locomotive valves and brake pistons. You will learn testing, identify serviceable parts, and follow procedures on semi-automatic equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma (preferred) and 1–2 years of related experience. You will work in a shop environment with safety, quality, and environmental policies guiding every task.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Basic assembly and building of freight or locomotive valves or brake pistons.
  • Learning the testing process.
  • Identify serviceable parts during the assembly process.
  • Follow procedural guidelines during the assembly process.
  • Operation of semi-automatic equipment i.e. lapping.
  • Proper use of power and manual tools.
  • Proper use of calibrated gauges, power and manual torqueing devices.
  • Perform hazardous waste management duties as necessary. Annual hazardous waste management will be completed. Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials Ground Shipper will be completed every three (3) years.
  • Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
  • Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
  • Must understand, support and adhere to the Integrated Management System policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Required Education and Experience
