Job summary

New York Air Brake is seeking a Shift Lead in Riverside, MO to supervise the cell operations, train new employees, and ensure safety and quality policies are followed. The role offers daytime training on the 1st shift, then a 2nd shift with a $1.00 per hour differential, and overtime opportunities.

Starting pay is $26-$30 per hour with benefits starting day one. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent and 1–2 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

The Shift Lead will train on the 1st shift (Mon - Thur 6 AM - 4:30 PM), then will move to the 2nd shift (4:45pm to 3:15am Mon-Thurs) and receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential.

Essential Functions

• Understand all facets of work in the cell (basic disassembly, wash, rebuild, and testing of freight and locomotive valves, brake pistons and test devices.
• Proper use of power and manual tools, operations of semi-automatic equipment, lapping, washes.
• Must oversee OTJ training for all new cell employees.
• Instruct cell employees on work instruction, proper use of all tools and equipment.
• Maintain a 5S environment in the cell at all times and immediately address any and all safety issues.
• Conduct standup meetings, issue instructions for daily goals and shift personnel.
• Work closely with Production Supervisor and Production Manager to ensure rates and goals are met, issues reported and resolved.
• Must understand and support all Quality, Product Safety, and Health/Safety/Environmental/Energy policies.
• Must understand and adhere to all relevant statutory or regulatory compliance obligations.
• Must understand and support all Integrated Management System policies, procedures, and instructions.
• Must understand and support relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), as defined in the goal tree.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

The employee will be exposed to shop floor conditions, i.e. noise, heat, cold, dust/dirt etc. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

The anticipated wage scale for candidates who will work in Riverside, MO is $26.00-30.00 per hour. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. New York Air Brake is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees will also receive 80 hours of vacation leave.
