Job summary

Calvin Giordano & Associates (CGA), a SAFEbuilt Company, is seeking an experienced CEI Project Administrator to join our CEI team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. You will support transportation and infrastructure construction projects, with a primary focus on FDOT and municipal contracts, from initial construction through final closeout.

You will help manage documentation, progress tracking, estimates, change orders, and closeout.

Qualifications

• Two years of engineering experience on transportation projects.
• PE registration in Florida is required for the CEI Project Engineer designation.
• Engineering or Construction Management degree is preferred.
• Knowledge of FDOT standards and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support administration of transportation projects per contract and FDOT standards.
• Assist with project documentation, estimates, change orders, and final closeout.
• Coordinate tasks among field staff, inspectors, engineers, and clients.
• Maintain accurate project files and reports.
• Monitor schedules, quantities, and contractor performance.
• Participate in project meetings and QA activities.

We are currently seeking an experienced CEI Project Administrator to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This position will support transportation and infrastructure construction projects, with a primary focus on Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) projects, as well as municipal projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in construction, CEI, engineering, or a related transportation environment and will be comfortable supporting projects from initial construction through final closeout.

• Support the administration and oversight of transportation and infrastructure construction projects in accordance with contract requirements, FDOT standards, and applicable municipal requirements.
• Assist with all phases of construction project administration, including project documentation, progress tracking, estimates, change orders, and final project closeout.
• Direct and assign specific tasks to administrative and field staff as needed and assist in coordinating project activities.
• Prepare, review, and maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, inspection records, material certifications, test results, contractor submittals, and other required records.
• Prepare and track progress estimates and final estimates throughout the construction project.
• Assist with monitoring contractor performance, project schedules, quantities, and compliance with contract requirements.
• Coordinate with field inspection personnel, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and client representatives to ensure project requirements are met.
• Participate in project meetings and communicate project status, issues, and progress effectively.
• Support quality control and quality assurance activities and ensure required documentation is complete and accurate.
• Apply independent judgment and initiative when identifying and resolving project-related issues.
• Maintain organized project files and ensure documentation complies with applicable FDOT and municipal requirements.
• Perform other project-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of construction engineering and inspection practices, preferably within transportation and roadway construction.
• Knowledge of FDOT construction standards, procedures, documentation, and project requirements preferred.
• Understanding of construction contracts, project documentation, pay estimates, quantities, change orders, and project closeout procedures.
• Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to review project information, identify discrepancies, and resolve routine project issues.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments while meeting project deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and follow general instructions with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, inspectors, engineers, administrative personnel, and government agency representatives.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

Experience

Candidates with an Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management degree:

• Minimum of two (2) years of engineering experience on relevant transportation projects.
• A Master's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management may substitute for one (1) year of required engineering experience.

Candidates without an Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management degree:

• Minimum of eight (8) years of CEI, roadway, or bridge construction experience.
• At least two (2) years of that experience must involve relevant transportation projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of Florida required for the CEI Project Engineer designation.
• Candidates registered as a PE in another state must obtain Florida endorsement within six (6) months of the project Notice to Proceed (NTP).

FDOT Certifications / Qualifications

The following qualifications/certifications may be obtained within six (6) months of hire, provided the employee works under the supervision and direction of a Senior Project Engineer, all other position requirements are met, and a training plan is established:

• FDOT Advanced Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)
• CTQP Quality Control Manager certification, including successful completion of the required examination
