Job summary

City of Cookeville is seeking a Truck Driver II (Floater) in Public Works. Under general supervision, operates automated side-loading, front-loading, or roll-off sanitation trucks to collect refuse and recyclables on assigned routes.

Requires CDL and the ability to work in all weather conditions and flexible hours including weekends. Applicants must pass a background check and pre-employment screening; high school diploma preferred.

Qualifications

• Must possess a TN commercial driver's license (CDL).
• Experience operating a sanitation truck or other heavy equipment is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive automated side-loading, front-loading or roll-off trucks for collection of refuse and recyclables.
• Operate trucks with container handling devices to engage, raise, discharge, lower and disengage 96-gallon carts or 4–30 cubic yard containers.
• Inspect assigned truck for proper operation and address mechanical issues as needed.
• Maintain safety precautions while vehicle is in operation and work a flexible schedule including weekends.
