Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Driver Trainee in Nashville to begin a comprehensive CDL training program that qualifies you as a commercial driver. The program combines classroom study, on-route training and hands-on experience, with access to a loaner truck to help prepare for the CDL exam.

After earning your CDL, you’ll be placed as a Driver in Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll‑Off with a range of benefits including medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement with company match

Qualifications

• No prohibitions to acquiring a commercial drivers' license.

Responsibilities

• Complete CDL training program including classroom study, on-route training and resources to take the CDL exam.
• Complete twelve (12) months of employment after obtaining a CDL.
• Learn to perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections.
• Learn to safely operate a heavy or commercial truck along a designated route and service each customer.
• Learn to operate controls to lift and load refuse at the disposal site.
• Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers as required.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Maintain vehicle readiness and clean the packer blade and truck body.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• After obtaining a CDL, perform all Driver duties in one of the company’s lines of business.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
