Job summary

State of Georgia’s Department of Driver Services seeks a Safety & Compliance Specialist 2- CDL to process applications for certification and recertification, screen eligibility, and provide expert guidance on federal/state rules. The role requires interpreting laws, maintaining accuracy, and delivering professional service across multiple channels.

Based at DDS Headquarters in Conyers, GA, the position involves occasional training delivery, teamwork, and adapting to a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with two years of related experience interpreting and applying state laws, rules, and regulations to determine if an applicant meets statutory requirements.
• Some positions may require a valid driver's license.
• Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.

Responsibilities

• Process applications and supporting documents for certification or recertification of commercial driver training school owners, instructors, testers, examiners, and credential approvals.
• Screen applications for completeness and accuracy using state laws and agency rules.
• Provide ongoing support via phone, email and in person.
• Respond to inquiries professionally and timely per DDS core values.
• Investigate complaints, present findings to management, and recommend actions.
• Create and deliver training presentations and participate in outreach events.
• Maintain effective relations with DDS centers, other agencies and the public.
