Job summary

Tulsa County is seeking a Highway Operator I to operate heavy construction equipment and CDL-required trucks for the maintenance of roads and bridges. The role includes performing pre-trip checks, routine maintenance, and reporting repair needs to supervision.

The position requires a High School diploma or equivalent, and a Class B CDL; prior heavy equipment experience is preferred. Work is performed in outdoor environments with safety protocols in place.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation from a standard four year high school or higher and over three years in heavy equipment operation in highway/bridge maintenance or construction.
• Ability to read safety rules and manuals; write routine reports; communicate with supervisors.
• Valid Oklahoma Class B Commercial Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy construction equipment and trucks on a regular basis; perform preventative maintenance and pre-checks.
• Inform supervisor of repairs needed and perform field repairs as required.
• May assist or train on equipment of higher/lower classification; perform labor tasks as part of road/bridge crew.
