Job summary

City of Cañon City is hiring for a full-time Streets crew member to operate heavy equipment and perform street maintenance tasks. The role requires safe operation of snow plows, dump trucks, backhoes, trenchers, and related machinery to patch streets, perform repairs, and support culvert and drainage work.

The position reports to the Streets Field Supervisor and requires a valid Colorado driver’s license with the possibility to obtain a Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within six months.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Two (2) years in equipment operation with focus in street maintenance/construction.
• Licenses: Colorado Driver’s License; ability to obtain Colorado Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment (snow plow, dump truck, backhoe, etc.) to support street maintenance and construction.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Assist public and respond to questions; conduct traffic control in work zones.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and weekends.
• Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
