Job summary

The Colorado Department of Transportation in Denver is hiring a Highway Maintenance Specialist. You will operate heavy equipment, plow snow, mow, repair guardrails and signs, and respond to weather emergencies as part of a patrol team.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation experience.
• Must possess Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B with no air-brakes restriction.
• On-call work and shift work required; ability to respond to weather emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Plowing snow and operating heavy equipment (e.g., tandem dump truck, loader, tractor mower).
• Mow grass and weeds; remove debris from roadways and culverts; shovel gravel and asphalt.
• Install/repair guardrails, signs, markings; control traffic during incidents.
• Maintain equipment and perform minor repairs; follow safety guidance and wear PPE.
