Job summary

City of Aspen is seeking a Streets/Heavy Equipment Operator II to join the Streets Department. You will operate heavy equipment for street repair, snow removal, and storm drain work in Aspen, CO, under the Streets Superintendent’s supervision.

Minimum requirements include a High School diploma or GED, 2–5 years of operator experience, and a valid Colorado driver’s license with CDL Tanker endorsement or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: Two to five years as an equipment operator.
• Licenses: Colorado Driver’s License or ability to obtain within 30 days; Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains heavy equipment and vehicles to repair streets, remove snow, and install/maintain storm drains.
• Performs pre-trip inspections, fuels, lubricates, and performs minor repairs; keeps equipment clean.
• Maintains inventory for street signs and performs sign maintenance as required or assigned.
• Summer work includes street repairs, street sweeping, pavement assessment, painting crosswalks, and on-call rotations.
• Winter work includes plowing/snow removal, anti-icing/de-icing, and on-call duration.
• Emergency response: 24-hour on-call during winter months and occasional summer periods.
