Job summary

City and County of Denver seeks an Equipment Operator I for Street Maintenance to support sweeping, pothole repair, and snow removal operations across Denver’s streets and alleys.

You will inspect vehicles, operate light to medium equipment, and assist with traffic control while following safety and regulatory requirements. This role offers a stable schedule, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
• Two (2) years of general labor experience which must include six (6) months of experience operating light to medium sized equipment.
• This job requires driving. Requires a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL "B") with appropriate endorsements at the time of application.
• Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Sweeper operations, route sweeping completions, and other sweeping operations as assigned.
• Inspects vehicle for loose parts, damaged or worn tires, proper air pressure in tires, and other items affecting its safe operation and completes a pre/post trip inspection as defined by federal guidelines.
• Provide guidance and direction to Utility Worker I and II teammates.
• Perform semi-skilled and light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
• Operate light to medium sized equipment for maintenance and minor construction projects.
• Place and remove barricades, cones, and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirement
• Participates in snow removal duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned
