The State of Nebraska’s Department of Transportation seeks a Diesel Technician to diagnose, maintain and repair a range of heavy-duty trucks and road construction equipment. The role covers diverse makes/models with computerized diagnostics and welding tasks, plus on-call snow removal duties during winter months.

A Class A CDL is required within 90 days, with in-house training and costs covered. Benefits include retirement, holidays, health and more.

Qualifications

• Practical work experience performing automotive/diesel maintenance and repair, including use of computerized diagnostic instruments and equipment.
• Preferred qualifications: degree in Automotive Diesel Mechanics, with experience in repair of trucks or heavy equipment.
• Experience in welding and fabrication; basic computer experience.

Responsabilités

• Perform highly skilled and complex diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy-duty trucks and road equipment.
• Fabricate/repair parts using welding tools and methods; adapt incompatible parts.
• Calibrate systems on heavy-duty vehicles; inspect equipment to meet specs and ensure road-readiness.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components.
• Perform snow removal tasks and preventative maintenance; maintain equipment.
