Nebraska Department of Transportation is seeking a Diesel Technician in Arapahoe, NE. Join a dedicated team ensuring equipment is road-ready, performing diagnostics, maintenance, and complex repairs on heavy‑duty trucks and road construction equipment.

Role requires post‑high school training in automotive/diesel mechanics or related experience, with CDL eligibility within 90 days. CDL preferred; excellent benefits and stability offered in a public service environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include practical work experience in automotive/diesel maintenance and repair, and/or post-high school vocational coursework in automotive/diesel mechanics.
• Preferred qualifications include a degree in Automotive Diesel Mechanics with experience in heavy equipment repair.
• Knowledge of or ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 90 days of hire.

Responsabilités

• Perform highly skilled diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of heavy‑duty trucks, road construction, and maintenance equipment.
• Fabricate and repair equipment/parts using welders and welding materials; adapt parts and repair damage.
• Calibrate systems on heavy‑duty vehicles to ensure safe operation in varying conditions.
• Inspect new equipment to ensure road readiness and adjust as needed for attachments and operating systems.
• Maintain hydraulics, electrical, steering, brake, and fuel systems; repair/overhaul diesel or gasoline engines.
• Perform snow removal tasks, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
