Job summary

Luna Community College in Las Vegas, NM seeks a CDL Program Director to provide leadership for CDL and Heavy Equipment training within Workforce Development. This role combines management, curriculum oversight, and regulatory compliance.

The Director will supervise CDL Instructors, Examiners, and the Program Manager, coordinate with state/federal agencies, and pursue grant opportunities with industry partners to advance statewide workforce initiatives.

Qualifications

• DOT regulations, FMCSA ELDT rules, and New Mexico DMV CDL testing standards.
• Advanced knowledge of adult learning theories, curriculum design, classroom instruction, simulator training, and field evaluation methods.
• Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to supervise CDL instructors, examiners, and the CDL Program Manager.
• Experience with grant writing and state/federal regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative oversight for CDL, Heavy Equipment, and related workforce development programs.
• Ensure smooth program operation across main, satellite, and mobile sites.
• Directly supervise CDL instructors, certified CDL examiners, and the CDL Program Manager.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, professional development, and performance reviews for staff.
• Ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA ELDT and NM DMV guidelines and compile reports.
• Lead curriculum development, evaluation, and modernization leveraging simulators and fieldwork standards.
• Oversee DOT CDL testing operations and examiner certification.
• Deliver classroom theory, labs, and behind-the-wheel instruction as needed.
• Market CDL and workforce programs to regional businesses and community partners.
• Collaborate on grant opportunities and statewide workforce initiatives with the CTE/Workforce Director.
• Collect and report program data to Workforce Administrator and Modern Campus.
• Represent Luna Community College at statewide workforce events and industry meetings.
• Ensure safety protocols and fleet/equipment maintenance across training sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
