Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PennDOT is seeking a CDL Operator to maintain roads, bridges, and transportation routes. The role focuses on operating equipment and performing manual labor to keep highway infrastructure safe and functional.

Responsibilities include operating trucks and loaders, maintaining CDL credentials, flagging duties, and assisting with repairs. Work is full-time, onsite with a 7:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule; travel and overtime are required; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program or an equivalent title.
• Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School or equivalent.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders and other highway maintenance equipment.
• Maintain CDL credentials and complete pre/post-operational checks.
• Perform flagger duties to manage traffic when equipment isn’t in use.
• Carry out manual tasks like digging, cutting brush, erecting signs and tool use.
• Complete minor repairs and assist mechanics during larger repairs.
• Follow safety procedures and report injuries or equipment issues.
