The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in Allegheny County is seeking a Transportation Equipment Operator A to operate trucks, loaders, and related machinery for highway and bridge maintenance, with a focus on safety and reliability.

This full-time role offers daytime hours 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with CDL requirements and a starting salary of $45,888 per year; the position includes inspections, traffic control, basic repairs, and adherence to safety

Qualifications

• Active Pennsylvania Class A or B CDL with Air Brake restriction removed.
• Active Medical Examiner's Certificate as required by FMCSA regulations.
• Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N) during probationary period and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders, and other machinery for road and bridge maintenance.
• Perform daily pre/post-operation inspections and document findings.
• Carry out flagging duties to support safe work zones when equipment is not in operation.
• Perform manual labor such as cutting brush, repairing guiderails, and drainage maintenance.
• Make minor equipment adjustments and assist mechanics with repairs and service.
• Follow safety procedures and report injuries or hazards.
