Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a PennDOT CDL Operator in Fayette County to operate highway maintenance equipment and perform hands-on labor that supports road and bridge upkeep. You will handle trucks and loaders, maintain CDL credentials, and assist mechanics while ensuring safety in all work zones.

The role requires full-time hours from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with travel and overtime as needed; telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program or CDL training.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training accepted.
• Active Pennsylvania Class A or B CDL required; Air Brake Restriction (L) removed.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks, loaders and other equipment for maintenance activities.
• Maintain CDL credentials and complete daily checks per regulations.
• Perform flagging duties to ensure safe movement through work zones.
• Conduct manual labor such as cutting brush, cleaning culverts, repairing guiderails and installing signs.
• Perform minor repairs and adjustments, supporting mechanics in equipment upkeep.
• Follow safety procedures, observe hazards and report incidents.
