Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Transportation is seeking a PennDOT CDL Operator to support highway and bridge maintenance with reliable day shifts and no overnight travel. You will operate trucks and loaders, perform flagging duties, and carry out hands-on labor in a safe, community‑m serving role.

The position requires a Pennsylvania Class A or B CDL with Air Brake and Manual Transmission restrictions removed, plus related certifications.

Qualifications

Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program or equivalent
Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School
An equivalent combination of experience and training

Responsibilities

Operate trucks, loaders, and other machinery while completing required checks and maintaining CDL standards
Perform flagging duties to support safe and efficient work zones
Carry out tasks such as digging, cutting brush, erecting signs, and repairing barriers using hand and motorized tools
Make field adjustments, complete minor repairs, and assist mechanics while maintaining accurate equipment records
Follow proper procedures, stay alert to hazards, and report incidents to maintain a safe work environment
Implement required environmental protections during maintenance activities
