Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking seasonal staff to support winter operations, including snow and ice clearance, debris removal, and equipment maintenance. You may be called in for storm response and must be ready to work varied shifts.

Required are CDL and DOT medical card, ability to perform heavy manual labor up to 50 lbs, and experience operating dump trucks, loaders, graders, backhoes, and tractors. Safety shoes are needed for the role.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor including standing, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate medium and heavy equipment such as dump trucks, front-end loaders, motor graders, backhoe, skid steer, and tractors.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Operations: assist and support operations for clearing snow and ice on roadways.
• Manual Labor: install tire chains, plow, blades, debris removal.
• Preventative Maintenance: perform maintenance on equipment used to clear roadways.
