Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking workers to support emergency operations during snow and inclement weather. Responsibilities include operating dump trucks, front-end loaders, motor graders, backhoes, and other heavy equipment, as well as performing debris removal and routine maintenance.

The role requires the ability to perform heavy manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work day or night shifts. A valid CDL and DOT medical card are required, and safety shoes must be worn on site.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor including standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work day or night shifts to support emergency operations.
• CDL and DOT medical card required; must maintain thereafter.
• Safety shoes required.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Operations: Assist and support operations for clearing snow and ice from roadways, applying abrasives and chemicals.
• Manual Labor: Install tire chains, plow blades, and perform debris removal.
• Perform duties as assigned: tasks and projects as required.
• Preventative Maintenance: Maintain equipment used for snow removal.
