Job summary

Finney County is seeking a road and bridge maintenance worker to operate light, medium and heavy trucks and equipment on public works projects. You will support road construction, maintenance, and material delivery under supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma, a valid Class B CDL with endorsements, and adherence to safety policies. Overtime and travel may be involved, with a strong emphasis on daily logs and equipment upkeep.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Proficient in basic computer systems and software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, email, timekeeping software, work order inputs).
• Ability to complete daily work and maintenance records clearly and legibly.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform equipment operation procedures.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with proper endorsements.
• KS Flagging Certification within 90 days of hire (if applicable).
• OSHA/First Aid/CPR and Defensive Driving training are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of trucks and construction equipment for road construction/maintenance.
• Perform daily maintenance checks and complete paperwork for activities.
• Repair roadway surfaces, seal cracks, and manage drainage and debris removal.
• Maintain road and bridge shop area and ensure safety in work zones.
• Assist other departments as needed and report hazards to supervision.
