Job summary

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Proficient in basic computer systems and software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, email, timekeeping software, work order inputs)
• Ability to complete daily work and maintenance records clearly and legibly.
• Ability to operate vehicles and light to heavy duty construction and specialized equipment.
• Ability to perform welding.
• Ability to use shop tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform equipment operation procedures
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and service procedures, including the tools necessary to complete assignment.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards, necessary safety precautions, policies, procedures, and regulations applicable to equipment operation and work zones.
• Valid driver's license
• Kansas Flagger Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to obtain First aid and CPR certificates
• Ability to obtain Defensive driving certification
• PPE training
• MSHA training
• OSHA training
• Occasional overtime

• Regular and reliable attendance onsite at work location

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of non CDL trucks and construction equipment for road maintenance projects.
• Repair and construct roadway surfaces, seal cracks, and maintain roadways and shoulders.
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment and record maintenance activities.
• Complete accurate daily paperwork for construction and maintenance tasks.
• Perform traffic control duties and follow safety regulations in work zones.
• Attend training needed for mine safety, OSHA, Hazmat, First Aid/ CPR, and Defensive Driving.
• Maintain road and bridge shop areas and equipment as needed.
