Job summary

The City of Fayetteville, Arkansas is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support street and infrastructure projects. The role involves operating heavy equipment such as pavers, milling machines, rollers, and dump trucks, performing field maintenance, and assisting with basic street and trail construction.

A valid driver’s license is required and a Class B CDL must be obtained within 120 days of hire. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and related experience or training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 18 months of related experience or training.
• Must obtain a Class B CDL within 120 days of hire.
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and orally.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide good customer service to internal and external customers and maintain reliable attendance.
• Provide supervision of Maintenance III and other workers in the absence of the Crew Leader.
• Operate specialized heavy equipment such as asphalt paver, milling machine, sweeper, oil truck.
• Operate heavy construction equipment including dozer, gradall, backhoe, grader, loader and dump truck.
• Assist with basic grade construction of streets and trails.
• Move equipment and materials to and from job sites.
• Maintain equipment through daily maintenance, checks and grease applications.
• Removal of snow and ice from City roads.
• Traffic control and assistance with moving traffic through and/or around job sites.
• Perform secondary duties as assigned.
