Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is hiring Equipment Operator III in the Solid Waste Division to operate medium and heavy power-driven equipment requiring a Class B CDL. The role supports municipal solid waste collection, recycling, and debris removal, and includes property maintenance across City streets and rights‑of‑way.

Experience with heavy equipment, ability to lead a crew, and a valid Class B CDL are required. Training and safety procedures are emphasized; pre-employment screenings may apply.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience involving the skilled operation of refuse equipment or heavy construction and maintenance equipment.
• Requires possession of a Class B CDL and ability to maintain insurability.

Responsibilities

• Operate medium and heavy power-driven equipment such as refuse trucks, yard waste trucks, excavators, road-graders, knuckle boom truck.
• Lead a crew and perform maintenance on city properties including streets, parks, cemeteries, and drainage systems.
• Collect, haul, and dispose of municipal solid waste and yard debris; support road and infrastructure maintenance.
