The City of Fayetteville’s Public Services Department is seeking an Equipment Operator III for the Solid Waste Division to operate medium and heavy power-driven equipment requiring a CDL (Class B) to assist with municipal solid waste collection and debris removal across City streets and rights‑of‑way. This role also maintains streets, parks, cemeteries, and other City properties.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience involving skilled operation of refuse equipment or heavy construction and maintenance equipment.
• Ability to maintain insurability with a Class B CDL.
• Completion of the twelfth grade is required.

Responsabilités

• Operate heavy construction and maintenance equipment (e.g., compressors, cement mixers, knuckle boom, bucket trucks) to support maintenance and solid waste operations.
• Participate in required safety training and follow safety procedures while operating trucks and equipment.
• Repair and maintain City properties (parks, cemeteries, streets) and transport heavy equipment between sites as needed.
• Collect and transport municipal solid waste, yard debris, and debris removal.
• Perform ground maintenance tasks (grading, concrete work, resurfacing, etc.) and assist with drainage work.
• Identify equipment needs for projects and maintain records; perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
