Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Roadway Maintenance Operator to operate tandem dump trucks and support equipment across county road projects. This role includes manual labor tasks, equipment operation, and adherence to safety protocols in all weather conditions.

The position requires a Class A CDL (within six months) and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Candidates should be prepared for overtime, extended hours, and potential 12-hour shifts while supporting urgent road repairs and

Qualifications

• Six (6) months of related work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operates tandem dump trucks for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe and debris.
• Operates other medium equipment such as a belt loader, roller, and skid steer loader.
• Perform pre-operation maintenance on equipment per specifications and assist in roadway maintenance tasks as described.
