Job summary

Ancora Education is hiring a Contract Specific CDL Driver Trainer in Houston, TX for full-time, hourly work. The trainer leads CDL program instruction, behind‑the‑wheel training, and assessments at the assigned location, under supervision of the Program Director or Lead Trainer.

The role requires a valid CDL, 3 years of on-road experience, and strong communication and teaching abilities. Travel to other locations for cohorts across six 9-week terms may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires CDL and appropriate class level.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 3 years of verifiable on-the-road experience within the last 5 years.
• Must pass DOT physical and DOT drug screen.
• Willingness to travel to other locations for cohorts as needed.
• Strong communication, leadership, and teaching skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and maintains a positive learning environment.
• Convenes all assigned classes per start/end times.
• Delivers instructional material for trucking/driving.
• Trains students in all areas of trucking/driving.
• Administers written tests and evaluates grades.
• Performs pre-trip inspections of commercial vehicles.
• Instructs air-brake tests and backing maneuvers (straight, offset, 45-degree).
• Uses skills assessments to evaluate student progress.
