Job summary

Austin Powder is hiring a CDL Driver/Operator in Nashville to safely transport our bulk and packaged explosives and to perform hands-on labor at job sites and at our home base. You will drive 20–30% of the time and perform field labor the rest, including loading, unloading, and operating bulk equipment.

The role requires a valid CDL, ability to work outdoors in all weather, and lifting up to 50 lbs, with occasional early hours and travel to customer sites.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or B with clean driving record.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
• Lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Read and interpret gauges and maintain records.
• Hazmat, tanker, and air brake endorsements preferred.
• ATF explosive possessor qualification required.
• Operate mobile manufacturing units at customer sites.
• Non-traditional hours start very early.
• Own reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Maintains/operates vehicles and equipment in a safe, professional manner.
• Driving time is 20–30% and remainder is performing physical labor activities using hand tools, shovels, etc. outside with exposure to the elements.
• Ability to coordinate and handle mechanical mechanisms to deliver emulsion.
• Picks up and transports goods, inventory, hazardous materials, and other types of cargo to intended destinations.
• Keeps driving and delivery logs maintained, confirms the contents of loads match manifest documents, and tracks and reports working hours.
• Responsible for loading/unloading and transporting materials and supplies to and from specified destinations, which includes overhead bin loading requiring fall protection.
• Operates mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) onsite at customer locations to create a wide array of bulk products for blasting.
• Masters the operation of Austin Powder bulk equipment to create consistent quality in our products to enhance our customer experience.
• Complete pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and reports any maintenance requirements to Location Manager.
• Comply with all regulatory requirements and company policies for the delivery of bulk and packaged explosives.
• Operate mobile manufacturing equipment, which includes precise control of chemicals into the product.
• Hands on approach in the daily operation and maintenance of the Austin Powder location and customer sites
• Other duties as assigned.
