Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Driver Development Coordinator/Trainer in Maryland. The role focuses on developing pre-qualified individuals into CDL-qualified drivers, while performing city driving duties and supporting operations leadership with special assignments. Strong compliance with DOT regulations and customer service is essential.

You will coordinate class schedules, drive time, and equipment, while maintaining relationships with service center managers and participating in safety programs.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat, and tank endorsements
• Two years’ verifiable experience within the previous three years operating a Class A CMV
• Must possess acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations
• LCV states include AZ, CO, FL, ID, IN, KS, MT, ND, NV, OH, OK, OR, SD and UT; must meet LCV standards

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations and assist with driving duties
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections
• Hook/unhook trailers and convert dollies
• Handle freight using forklifts and hand trucks
• Secure freight with pallets, straps and rope
• Complete required documentation and reports
• Comply with hazardous material regulations
• Communicate with dispatch and customers about pick-up/delivery needs
• Support driver development program by coordinating trainings and schedules
• Conduct road tests and apply Smith System safe driving guidelines
