Job summary

FedEx Freight in Pennsylvania is seeking a CDL driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and straight trucks. You will develop driving and forklift skills, perform pre-trip inspections, dock work, and handle freight safely on the dock and on trailers.

This role requires a class A CDL or CLP, a compliant MVR, DOT knowledge, basic math, and strong communication. Lifting up to 100 pounds, sitting, bending, and teamwork are part of daily duties; hours vary with operations.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL or CLP prior to entering job classification.
• Must possess acceptable MVR based on hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under 391 of the FMC regulations.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 100 pounds several times a day.
• Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, twist, squat, climb in and out of truck.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment problems.
