Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and/or straight trucks, delivering between service centers and turn-point locations.

Responsibilities may include non-driving duties such as forklift operation and working the dock. Through education and driving skills development, this role ensures compliance with DOT regulations, safety inspections, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class A CDL or commercial learner permit (CLP) prior to entering job classification.
• Must have acceptable MVR and meet DOT regulatory requirements.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to hook up and break down trailer sets requiring lift effort of ~100 pounds.
• Ability to sit for extended periods and move as needed.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete training.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies.
• Maintain accurate daily logs.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch about delays, arrivals, or equipment issues.
• Comply with hazmat regulations and placarding as required.
• Provide internal and external customer service.
• Occasionally perform city driving or freight handling duties.
• Handle freight using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed.
