Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a qualified driver to operate tractor-trailer combinations and perform essential dock and freight-handling tasks. You will conduct safety inspections, hook/unhook trailers, and manage freight using various equipment.

Flexibility for varying hours and adherence to DOT regulations are required. Key duties include securing freight, completing paperwork, and coordinating with Dispatch to meet customer needs while delivering reliable service.

Qualifications

• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow DOT regulatory requirements and company procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks.
• Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and inter-trip safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and convertor dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Perform freight handling using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Communicate with Dispatch regarding delays, arrivals, or equipment problems.
• Demonstrate internal and external customer service; solicit additional business leads.
