Job summary

Lightning Transportation, Inc. seeks a Safety & Compliance Specialist to support contracted drivers in maintaining CDL and DOT compliance, promote safe driving, and foster a culture of safety across the organization.

You will onboard drivers, manage qualification files and required documentation, and deliver ongoing safety training to ensure regulatory adherence and incident prevention. Additionally, you will schedule inspections, monitor telematics data and ELD usage, assist with audits and

Qualifications

• At least two years of verifiable experience in a heavy truck repair shop or FHWA inspections under supervision.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations (FMCSA, DOT).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Onboard contracted drivers through orientation and ensure documentation.
• Maintain open communication and provide ongoing safety training to promote compliance.
• Ensure CDL and DOT compliance by managing driver qualification files, permits, audits, and corrective actions.
• Schedule and conduct FHWA inspections of tractors and chassis.
• Manage GPS units, tablets, cameras, and related equipment records.
• Monitor safety performance, support KPI achievement, and develop safety policies.
• Review data from GEOTAB, cameras, and ELDs to identify unsafe driving behaviors and implement training.
• Assist with incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Promote EOS adoption within the role to enhance skills and productivity.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
