Job summary

JOB DETAILS

Base pay starts at $29.00 per hour

Shift: Day Shift, Monday through Friday

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The driver will be expected to transport and deliver building materials to retail stores and construction job sites using a tractor‑trailer. This position requires a wide range of skills from practicing safe driving and delivery to top‑notch customer service. This is a hands‑on delivery driving position.

  • Safely assist in the unloading of the product using a Moffett to customer’s location and/or return products
  • Deliver material in “route truck/multi‑drop” fashion to destinations in accordance with Federal regulations
  • Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speed in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather or in tight loading dock areas
  • Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations including driver logs, fuel purchases, mileage records, and other records required by law
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle
  • Able to answer questions regarding packing lists, invoices, packaging, and material content. If unable to answer specific questions, direct customer to appropriate contact
  • Perform pre & post‑trip inspections thoroughly
  • Maintain cleanliness and integrity of vehicle and equipment
  • Immediately report any necessary repairs and/or maintenance needed
  • Actively ensure compliance with DOT guidelines
  • May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
  • Have an acceptable accident and moving violation Motor Vehicle Record
  • 2 years of previous tractor‑trailer driving experience including winter driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
  • 1 year of flatbed experience
  • Valid Medical Card
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Ability to work effectively with people in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to work in degrees of precision and control where damage could be considerable
  • Attention and care required to prevent injury to others when performing work
  • Ability to stoop, bend, stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to maintain a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
