Job summary

160 Driving Academy is seeking a CDL Class A Instructor Trainer to teach students from pre-trip inspections to passing their CDL exam. Based at a designated yard, you’ll work with a team of instructors and may cover additional regional yards when needed. You’ll also keep the yard clean and support truck transfers as required.

This is a local, hands-on role offering home-at-night, with compensation tied to outcomes and merit-based bonuses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Class A CDL with at least 24 months of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience.
• State where you obtained your license must match the applying location.
• Manual transmission experience required.
• MVR free of violations and able to pass DOT physical & drug/alcohol screening.
• Background check clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Teach Class A driving skills in outdoor yards with auto and manual transmissions.
• Guide students through pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and on-road driving.
• Prepare students to pass CDL testing standards on first attempt.
• Track attendance and progress; provide additional support when needed.
• Maintain training records, evaluations, and documentation.
• Report incidents to lead and corporate in a timely manner.
