Occasional overnight OTR trips are required. The ideal candidate has at least one year of verifiable heavy-haul experience, a valid CDL, and a DOT medical certificate. Safety and reliability are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Minimum one year of verifiable heavy-haul experience transporting heavy construction equipment.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required.
• Experience operating lowboy and step-deck trailers strongly preferred.
• Experience with multi-axle trailer configurations preferred.
• Knowledge of loading, weight distribution, cargo securement, and heavy equipment transportation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport heavy construction equipment to project sites throughout Arizona.

Location: Gilbert, AZ

R-2 Contractors is seeking a dependable, safety-focused CDL Class A Heavy Haul Driver to support our construction operations throughout Arizona. This position is based in Gilbert, AZ, and is primarily local, with drivers home every night following their local assignments while transporting heavy construction equipment and materials between job sites, equipment yards, and other designated locations.

Occasional overnight over-the-road (OTR) trips will be required to support projects and equipment transportation needs outside the local area.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of verifiable heavy-haul experience, including transporting and securing heavy construction equipment. We are looking for a reliable professional who takes pride in their work, prioritizes safety, and understands the demands of construction equipment transportation.

What You'll Do

• Safely transport heavy construction equipment and materials to and from project sites throughout Arizona.
• Perform occasional overnight OTR heavy-haul assignments as operational needs require.
• Operate Class A commercial vehicles, including lowboy trailers, step decks, flatbeds, dump trucks, and other heavy-haul configurations.
• Load, properly secure, transport, and unload heavy construction equipment in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Safely transport equipment using various trailer configurations, including multi-axle lowboys.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment safety and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with dispatch, fleet personnel, and project teams to ensure timely equipment deliveries and pickups.
• Assist field crews with equipment transportation and related activities as needed.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, delivery documentation, and other required paperwork.
• Follow all company safety policies, DOT regulations, and applicable transportation requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
• Minimum one year of verifiable heavy-haul experience transporting heavy construction equipment required.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required.
• Experience operating lowboy and step-deck trailers strongly preferred.
• Experience with multi-axle trailer configurations preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of proper loading, weight distribution, cargo securement, and heavy equipment transportation procedures.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
• Ability and willingness to perform occasional OTR assignments, including overnight travel when necessary.
• Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar material-handling equipment preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with project teams and fleet personnel.
• Ability to work independently, maintain schedules, and adapt to changing project demands.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Compensation & Benefits

• $22–$34per hour, depending on experience (DOE).

Schedule

• Full-time position.
• Primarily Monday–Friday.
