Job summary

R-2 Contractors, a civil and underground construction leader, seeks a CDL‑A OTR Driver to support nationwide projects. Based out of Prineville, OR or Gilbert, AZ, the role may be home-based or travel-based, depending on the agreement.

The driver will transport heavy equipment, operate various CDL Class A vehicles, and assist on job sites while maintaining safety, DOT compliance, and accurate paperwork. Flexibility for overnight travel is required.

Qualifications

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage paperwork.
• Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material‑handling equipment.
• Strong background in loading, securing, and transporting heavy construction equipment.
• Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check.

Responsibilities

• Transport heavy construction equipment safely and effectively.
• Operate CDL class A vehicles, including solo and dump trucks, lowboy, oversize/overweight, flatbed, belly dump, and more.
• Drive to job sites to assist field employees in construction projects.
• Inspect vehicles and machinery for mechanical and safety issues.
• Load and secure equipment per DOT regulations and transport to and from job sites.
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations, including weight limits, routes, parking, and break periods, as well as company policies.

Position Available: CDL-A OTR Driver

R-2 Contractors is looking for dedicated and experienced CDL-A Over-the-Road (OTR) Drivers to support our projects across the country. Based out of our Prineville, OR or Gilbert, AZ, or Surrounding States, this role involves transporting heavy construction equipment safely and efficiently. The position may be home-based or travel-based, depending on the agreement between the company and the hired employee.

Responsibilities:

• Transport heavy construction equipment safely and effectively.
• Operate various CDL class A vehicles, including solo and dump trucks, lowboy, oversize/overweight, flatbed, belly dump, and more.
• Drive to job sites to assist field employees in construction projects.
• Inspect vehicles and machinery for mechanical and safety issues.
• Collect and verify job site delivery and assistance instructions.
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations, including weight limits, routes, parking, and break periods, as well as company policies.
• Load and secure equipment per DOT regulations and transport safely to and from job sites.

Requirements:

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage paperwork and reports.
• Experience operating pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material‑handling equipment.
• Strong background in loading, securing, and transporting heavy construction equipment.
• Availability for overnight travel as required.
• Valid Class A CDL license (Required).
• Valid Medical card.
• Must pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check.

Typical Schedule and Tractors and Trailers we run:

• What does a typical OTR driver's schedule look like (time on the road, home time, etc.)? Rule of thumb is 2 weeks out and then back home. Normally its the weekend and plus a day or two depending on the driver's wants and the company's needs. It doesn't always work as planned, but wetry to be flexible if the driver gives usenough notice.
• What types of tractors do we operate? We have 3-4 axle Kenworth T880s and 3 Peterbilt 579s for our sleeper trucks. We run dump trucks, water trucks, a transfer, a tub, and 2 belly dumps. We also run some stepdeck and lowboy as needed locally.
• What trailer configurations and equipment do our drivers typically haul? We run step decks and lowboys up to 10 axles.

Job Type:

• Full-time
• Pay Rate: $34 – $38 per hour (dependent on experience)
