Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a CDL A driver to pick up and deliver freight between Service Centers and customers, while supporting the selling process. This role requires meeting DOT regulations, maintaining safe operation, and providing strong customer service.

You will perform pre-trip inspections, handle freight with appropriate equipment, and assist in growing business by soliciting additional opportunities. The position offers full-time hours and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• CDL A with double/triple endorsements, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic transmission restriction allowed.
• 1 year experience in last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
• MVR must meet hiring standards
• DOT 391 regulatory requirements must be met
• LCV states qualification if operating in listed states
• Ability to count and perform basic math
• Basic written and verbal communication skills
• Lift up to 100 pounds
• Sitting, bending, twisting, crouching and climbing required
• Follow instructions and complete training
• Work independently or as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations and other vehicle types as needed
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies
• Handle freight with forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks
• Secure freight using pallets, straps and rope
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports
• Comply with hazmat regulations and procedures
• Collect payments for freight charges when required
• Follow dispatch instructions and report delays or problems
• Communicate with customers to coordinate pickup/delivery and solicit additional business
• Provide internal and external customer service
• Offer leads to sales for new opportunities
• May perform tire chaining
• May perform road driver or dock duties as needed
• Comply with laws and company policies
• Perform other duties as required
