Passaic County Community College (PCCC) seeks a reliable and safety-focused part-time bus driver to support transportation needs across its Paterson, Wanaque, and Passaic campuses, as well as off-site academic, athletic, and community events. The bus driver plays a vital role in enhancing student access and supporting the College’s commitment to service excellence and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate College-owned buses and shuttle vehicles to transport students, faculty, staff, and guests.
• Drive between PCCC campuses and approved off-site locations in accordance with scheduled routes and special assignments.
• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and operational readiness.
• Comply with all New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (NJ MVC) regulations, federal DOT requirements, and College policies.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service to the campus community.
• Assist passengers with disabilities in compliance with ADA guidelines.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, mileage records, and incident reports.
• Immediately report accidents, safety concerns, or maintenance issues.
• Ensure the interior and exterior cleanliness of assigned vehicles.
• Follow all emergency and safety protocols, including evacuation procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B or higher, with Passenger (P) endorsement.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and DOT physical examination.
• Working knowledge of safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience driving buses or shuttle vehicles in an educational, municipal, or public service setting
• Familiarity with Passaic County and Northern New Jersey roadways
• Experience working with diverse populations in a community-focused environment

Schedule

Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The hourly pay rate for this position is $22.

• New Jersey Sick Leave: Earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked with a maximum of 40 hours of leave per benefit year. (Eligible to use after successful completion of probationary period.)
