Job summary

WeDriveU is seeking Transit CDL Driver to operate a variety of vehicles for Duke University passengers. The role offers full-time permanent employment with a compensation of $21.50 per hour.

Drivers report on time, follow routes safely, and provide courteous service to riders while maintaining vehicle readiness and cleanliness. Note: All applicants start as Driver Trainee with comprehensive training before advancing to a Driver role.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 year of CDL driving experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age; 25 for Tennessee School Bus Drivers per state law.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain, CDL B with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement.
• Must pass substance abuse screening as a safety-sensitive employee.
• Extensive knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift and assist passengers when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Operate position-specific vehicles (sedans, vans, shuttles, buses) on fixed or changing routes.
• Report maintenance problems and do not operate unsafe vehicles.
• Be punctual and maintain routes on time while staying safe.
• Assist passengers during evacuation in emergencies.
• Submit required paperwork (time cards, route sheets) promptly.
• Maintain neat, professional appearance and vehicle cleanliness.
• Prepare vehicle for inclement weather and use equipment as needed.
• Utilize wheelchair lifts, radios and emergency equipment.
