Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. seeks a Yard Driver Trainee to learn the essentials of a McLane Driver role. You’ll train on distribution, driver logs, and safe handling while preparing to become a full driver.

During training you’ll earn $22.00 per hour with benefits from day one, including medical, dental, vision, and more. Candidates must be 21+, hold a Class A CDL, and meet policy requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Ability and willingness to select/load/unload and/or deliver ALL products that may be ordered by McLane customers.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities of product.
• Communicate with customers, management, and other teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer and use related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in compliance with regulations and company policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer for defects pre/post trip and submit inspection reports.
• Operate DDH, document deliveries, temperatures, and exceptions.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn regulations and driving techniques.
• Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations.
• Assist in unloading trailer and delivering product to customer premises.
• Provide excellent customer service and issue valid credits.
