Job summary

McLane is seeking a Driver Trainee Component to learn the essentials of distributing products to customer locations across the United States. The role offers a training wage of $26.50/hour and a clearly defined path toward a driver position with $70,000–$90,000 annual pay after training, plus a $3,500 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Ability to load/unload and deliver ALL products that may be ordered by McLane customers.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Communicate with customers, management, and teammates.
• Understand English instructions and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operates truck safely per regulations and company policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects pre/post trip and submit DOT inspection report.
• Operates Driver Delivery Handheld (DDH), document delivery receipts/product temperatures and exceptions.
• Rides and trains with Driver Trainer to learn driving regulations and techniques.
• Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations.
• Assists the Driver in unloading trailer and delivering product to customer premises.
• Provides customer service including on-time delivery of undamaged product and handling returns.
