Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Trainee Component Driver to learn essential driving responsibilities while distributing products to customer locations. The role offers hands-on training within a supportive environment, plus day-one medical, dental, and vision coverage, and a path to 401(k) after 90 days.

You will work full-time in Athens, GA, starting at $23/hour during training. As you progress, you’ll gain experience in DOT-compliant driving, delivery documentation, and customer service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Ability to load/unload and deliver all products as ordered.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities.
• Communicate with customers and teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer and use related equipment.
• Ability to read/write/understand English for job tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in compliance with regulations and policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer equipment for defects and report DOT findings.
• Document deliveries and temperatures with DDH and ensure product security.
• Train with Driver Trainer to learn road skills and safety.
• Maintain driver logs per DOT regulations.
• Assist the Driver in unloading and delivering products.
• Provide customer service with on-time delivery and returns.
• Other duties as assigned.
