Job summary

American Driver LLC is hiring Class A drivers for a refrigerated fleet operating from the Paducah area in western Kentucky, with routes across Texas, Tennessee, Illinois and Georgia. Expect 1,800–2,000 miles weekly, home every two weeks, and a $1,300–$1,500 weekly average.

First 3 months solo include a $1,000 weekly minimum, with paid mentor training. Drivers are paid weekly, with $0.50–$0.74 per mile based on verifiable experience, $25 stop pay, and $650 weekly during training.

Qualifications

• Requires Class A CDL and valid driving experience on long-haul routes.
• Completion of CDL-A training or 120 hours in trucking school preferred.
• Clean safety record with no DUI/DWI in last 10 years.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are hiring Class A drivers in western Kentucky and the Paducah area for a refrigerated fleet that runs out of the Memphis hub. You haul temperature-controlled freight on steady lanes between Texas, Tennessee, Illinois and Georgia, about 1,800 to 2,000 miles a week, and average $1,300 to $1,500. You are home every two weeks, and your first 3 months solo carry a $1,000 weekly minimum. New CDL holders train with a paid mentor. Drivers with 6 months or more of recent experience start solo after orientation.

A week in the cab

You pick up a loaded reefer, often a live load at a shipper, and run it across the South or up toward Chicago. Most lanes repeat: Texas to Tennessee, Texas to Illinois, Texas to Georgia, Indiana to Illinois. Some loads are drop and hook or preloaded. Dispatch runs day and night, weekends are worked, and holidays are worked unless you ask for them off. After about two weeks, you head home.

Pay

• $0.50 to $0.74 per mile based on verifiable experience
• About 1,800 to 2,000 miles a week
• About $1,300 to $1,500 a week
• $1,000 weekly minimum for your first 3 months solo

• $650 a week during training
• Paid weekly by direct deposit

Your truck

An assigned late-model truck, automatic or 10-speed, about 1.5 years old on average. Approved riders and one dog under 40 pounds after training.

Starting out

A recruiter calls and reviews your license and record. Orientation takes two days at most, with your hotel covered and your bus ticket paid back, and pays $300 once you are hired. New drivers then train 3 to 5 weeks with a mentor, about 200 to 250 hours, at $650 a week. With 6 months of OTR experience in the last 12 months, you skip training and go solo.

Requirements

• Class A CDL from your state of residence, 21 or older
• Completed CDL-A training at a truck driving school (minimum 120 hours), or 6 months of OTR experience in the last 12 months
• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 2 years
• No DUI/DWI in the last 10 years
• DOT physical, hair and urine drug screen
