R. J. Corman Railroad Services is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Pittsburgh, PA.

The role involves operating and servicing heavy equipment used in railroad derailment recovery, driving CDL-A vehicles, and performing maintenance tasks in outdoor environments. The position requires a valid CDL-A with manual endorsement, a DOT Medical Card, and the ability to travel frequently to job sites.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL-A license with no restrictions and manual endorsement required.
• Valid DOT Medical Card required.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe vehicle operation.
• Ability to operate or learn specialized equipment such as sidebooms, track loaders, excavators, vac trucks, and grapple trucks.
• Experience with or ability to learn welding, cutting torch operations, and equipment maintenance.
• Must pass a background check, drug screen, and physical capacity test.
• Ability to work on-call 24/7 and travel frequently to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Transport, operate, and service heavy equipment used in railroad derailment recovery.
• Handle heavy steel chains, blocks, steel cables, and other recovery equipment.
• Practice safe work habits and ensure proper PPE is used.
• Safely drive, operate, and maintain CDL-A vehicles and equipment.
• Perform equipment maintenance, cleaning, and setup.
• Use hand and power tools, including cutting torches and welding equipment.
• Perform manual labor such as digging, hammering, and material handling.
• Follow DOT regulations, permits, and driving requirements.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
